What Brings You Joy

We often ask our community one simple question: What brings you joy?

The answers are rarely grand. They're usually quiet, practical, and deeply personal a moment, a habit, a person, a place.

This page is a growing collection of those responses. They remind us why we created martha and hepsie ltd and why we value togetherness, authenticity, optimism, and the vibrant essence of being colourful and creative in everything we do.

January 2026

  • Looking at the various colours in my wardrobe that suit me and make me look and feel happy and healthy! AND seeing others doing the same.
  • The small copper birch trees in the woods that look like flames in an otherwise leafless wooded area.
  • Dogs. Puppies especially. Cake. Crafting. Working with clay. Colouring. Coffee with friends. Flowers in the garden. Blue sky. Spotting a bird that's usually harder to spot (wren, kingfisher). Listening to loud music. Live music.
  • Spotting a robin singing their heart out
  • The first snowdrops peeping through in my garden
  • Seeing the connection between people, people helping others, birds using my feeder, the sun on my face during the winter, receiving an unexpected gift, and kindness.
  • Seeing people having true genuine fun. Could be a parent and child, a groups of teenagers, two best friends laughing at life, strangers who find joy looking at something new. But seeing anything genuine between people makes me believe in life.
  • Dogs playing and chasing around together.
  • Seeing people greet each other with true warmth and big hugs.
  • Lovely hot fragrant bath.
  • Getting a proper fit of the giggles.
  • A beautiful sea view on a bright, cold day.
  • Sitting on the front step about 4pm and the sun is low, the tarmac is warm, every thing is quiet and I'm just sat with music on peeling veg.
  • Sitting on the wall in our driveway, morning about 9am. It's quiet, I have a hot chocolate and all I can hear are birds and the clicking of the gutters as the sun moves round.
  • Stepping in a damp woodland and the smell coming up from the floor, the feel of instant calm.
  • A forehead kiss from my OH.
  • My son 11 but those cuddles like he is 3 again
  • Managing to get to the gym for the first time in years and enjoying it!
  • Colours, sunshine, games with the family or with friends. Making something creative. Sharing a joke, being in amongst the trees, wildlife - especially when they come close to you. Bird song.
  • Finding bars of chocolate that should have been Christmas presents in my drawer! They are now me presents!
  • Random acts of kindness. When I've been on the receiving end it's made me determined to give back to the world x 10!
  • A run through the woods
  • Little man's face after he lifted it from a cupcake he'd plunged it into. Talking frosting moustache, eyebrows, eyelashes, nose…. And the look of delight on his face while also looking so sticky and ridiculous. Who couldn't smile at that? I had to dip my own nose in too
  • Me sat with a cup of tea with a cat of my knee, and no children to disturb me!
